What's Cherepos?

Long ago, when the Barú River flooded with wild force, only the boldest would cross. Locals would shout, “¡Mirá esos Cherepos!”

a name born from awe and admiration. It stuck.

Since the 1960s, the Cherepo family has called these hills home, raising children, building homes, making music, and creating beauty with whatever materials were at hand. From the Grupo de los Cherepos band in the ‘80s to today’s expert builders, creativity flows through their veins like the Barú in rainy season.
